E. Suzanne Darling

Initiatives
Suzanne Darling is in charge of the Richmond, Virginia
office of the Clearinghouse. As former counsel to the
Virginia Treasurer (and a 20+ year veteran of the Virginia
Department of Law), she provided day-to-day legal advice
on any and all issues affecting the Commonwealth's unclaimed
property program. Suzanne’s extensive experience included
drafting and advocacy of legislation, review of unclaimed
property claims and processing procedures, audit defense,
and litigation of unclaimed property matters. Suzanne
served as the representative of the National Association
of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) in the
Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws' formulation
of the 1995 Uniform Unclaimed Property Act, and was
instrumental in Virginia's adoption of revised legislation.
Suzanne serves as an important resource to the states
for questions concerning policy and administration,
as well as a useful "sounding board" for best
practices.
